Swim Rotorua came of age at the Swimming Bay of Plenty Relay Championships last Sunday at the Rotorua Aquatic Centre.

The club underlined their emerging strength in depth to storm through to take a very impressive 10 victories from 16 events and claim the Gladesville Trophy as top club, with a massive haul of 221 points.

This is the first time the Swim Rotorua Club had finished first. What was equally impressive was the winning margin of 83 points.

Head coach Alastair Johnson was very upbeat with his young team.

"To be the top relay club in the Bay of Plenty is a real achievement for us, as it demonstrates our growing strength in depth. It was great to see so many young athletes step up and race their hearts out.

"We have a lot of juniors coming through now and I was really pleased how they handled themselves.
